Fundador de la Panamerican Moo Duk Kwan® Tang Soo Do Association.
1962: Kwan Jang Nim Pedro J. Vangas Jr., comenzó los entrenamientos de artes marciales en Corea del Sur, cuando se encontraba prestando servicio como Policía Militar del ejército de los Estados Unidos. Fue uno de los primeros extranjeros en obtener el rango de Cho Dan numero de registro #3225, con el Gran Maestro Jung Ho Yung, durante ese periodo, el arte tradicional Coreano (Ji Do Kwan) aun utilizaba las misma tecnicas del estilo de arte marciales Okinawa-Te, también conocido como Karate en el lenguaje Japones y Tang Soo Do en el lenguaje Coreano.
1968: Se traslada a la República de Panamá, en donde inaugura la primera academia en el Fuerte Amador de Panamá.
1971: Gran Maestro C. S. Kim visita a Panama, (Balboa, Zona del Canal) y realiza demostraciones y clinicas de Tang Soo Do Moo Duk Kwan. KJN Vangas fue invitado a ingresar a la Asociación Coreana de Tang Soo Do Moo Duk Kwan. Realizo examen (Yu Dan Ja Shim Sa) y la validacion de Cho Dan (1er Dan) y fue registrado con el número #15552 de la Asociación Coreana de Tang Soo Do. Al mismo tiempo fue nombrado instructor en el estilo de Moo Duk Kwan® y aceptado por el Fundador Kwan Jang Nim Hwang Kee (q.e.p.d).
1971-1972: Asignado al Equipo 72 de MACV, República de Vietnam del Sur y se desempeñó como instructor de combate cuerpo a cuerpo para las 5.ª Fuerzas Especiales y las Fuerzas Especiales de Vietnam. Galardonado con la Estrella de Bronce y la Cruz de Gallardía Vietnamita.
1973: Regresó a la República de Panamá y se convirtió en instructor principal de la Academia Fort Amador Tang Soo Do Moo Duk Kwan®.
1974: Certificado como E-Dan (2º Dan) por Sa Bom Nim Chun Sik Kim otorgado por el Gran Maestro Hwang Kee en el 53º Campeonato de Clasificación de Moo Duk Kwan® Tang Soo Do. Co-fundó la Asociación de Karate de la Zona del Canal para incorporar todos los estilos de artes marciales activos en la República de Panamá. Designado como Director Técnico y miembro de la Junta de Promoción.
1975: Asignado a Fort Hood, Texas y nombrado instructor principal del centro de entrenamiento de defensa personal. Organizó y supervisó más de 15 escuelas diferentes de Tang Soo Do y Tae Kwon Do Tradicional, dentro de la base militar de Fort Hood y sus comunidades adyacentes.
1976: Ganó el Trofeo de Gran Campeón y el Torneo de Mejor Demostración en el evento: “Este se encuentra con el Oeste” celebrado en Dallas, Texas durante el mes de junio.
1977: Organizó el primer Torneo de Artes Marciales del ejército, realizado en Abrams Field House, Fort Hood, Texas. Equipos de todos los principales comandos e instalaciones participaron en el torneo. Ascendido al rango de Sam Dan (3er Dan) por Sa Bom Nim Jung Soo, Director Regional de Tang Soo Do Moo Duk Kwan®.
1980: Designado como Director Regional para América Latina. Asignado a la Embajada Americana en Bogotá, Colombia. Capacitación de Guardias de Seguridad de la Embajada del Cuerpo de Infantería de Marina y Fuerzas de Comando Especial de Colombia. Otorgado Medalla de elogio de unión.
1981: Ascendido a Sa Dan (4º Dan) por la Asociación Coreana Tang Soo Do Moo Duk Kwan®.
1985: Regresó a la República de Panamá como instructor principal en el Howard AFB Tang Soo Do Club bajo el Gran Maestro Jae Joon Kim y la Asociación Americana Moo Duk Kwan® Tang Soo Do.
1986: Promovido a O Dan (5º Dan) por el Gran Maestro Jae Joon Kim Dan Bong #38 y asignado Dan Bong #14572. Designado como Maestro Instructor de Moo Duk Kwan®.
1988: Participó en el Campeonato Mundial de la Internacional Tang Soo Do, realizado en la Universidad de Florida, Tampa, Florida. Varios de sus alumnos logran las primeras tres posiciones del Torneo y Campeón de Campeones.
1990: Fundó la Asociación Panamericana Moo Duk Kwan® Tang Soo Do bajo la Asociación Americana Moo Duk Kwan® Tang Soo Do. La Panamerican fue creada para supervisar las actividades de Tang Soo Do en América Latina. Nombrado Presidente de la Asociación Panamericana de Tang Soo Do por el Gran Maestro Jae Joon Kim.
1991: Se traslada a Costa Rica, en donde organiza y celebra el Primer Torneo Internacional Latinoamericano de Tang Soo Do y Tae Kwon Do Tradicional en San José. Con la participación de Gran Maestro Jae Joon Kim y Sa Bom Nim C.S. Kim representando a la Asociación Estadounidense Moo Duk Kwan® Tang Soo Do.
1992: Promovido a Yuk Dan (6º Dan) por el Gran Maestro Jae Joon Kim. Miembro designado del Comité Ejecutivo.
1995: Seleccionado como Master Instructor del año, y reconocimiento por el Gran Maestro Jae Joon Kim.
1996: Participó en el Torneo Internacional USKA realizado en Ciudad de Panamá, República de Panamá. Manteniendo las segunda y tercera posición en la división de Maestros Senior en combate y forma.
2000: Promovido a Chil Dan (7° Dan) por el Gran Maestro Jae Joon Kim en reconocimiento a los años de servicio desarrollando, enseñando y expandiendo la Asociación Mundial Tang Soo Do Moo Duk Kwan® en América Latina. Se abrieron escuelas en Panamá, Costa Rica, Venezuela, Colombia, Puerto Rico, Aruba y Chile.
2001: Se unió a la Asociación Mundial de Soo Bahk Do® y fue nombrado Presidente de la Federación de Soo Bahk Do® de Puerto Rico.
2004: Participó en el Torneo Nacional de la Federación Soo Bahk Do® de los Estados Unidos en San Antonio, Texas.
2005: Participó en demostraciones y festividades durante el 60 aniversario de Moo Duk Kwan® en Sokcho, Corea del Sur por invitación personal del Gran Maestro H.C. Hwang, presidente de la Federación Mundial de Soo Bahk Do® Moo Duk Kwan®.
2007: Viaja a Mendoza, Argentina para participar en el 5° Simposio y Ko Dan Ja Shim Sa de la Federación Mundial de Soo Bahk Do® Moo Duk Kwan®.
2008: Viaja a Spa y Brussel, Belgium para el 6° Simposio de la Federación Mundial de Soo Bahk Do® Moo Duk Kwan®. Luego se traslada a Palma de Mallorca, España para proveer seminarios a la Asociación Española de Soo Bahk Do® Moo Duk Kwan®.
2008-2009: Certificado como Pahl Dan (8º Dan) por la Federación General Mundial Moo Duk Kwan® de Corea, bajo el Gran Maestro Young Duk Kim, 10º Dan, el más antiguo de los estudiantes originales del Fundador KJN Hwang Kee , con el número de Dan Bon #2.
2012: Seleccionado para ser incluido en la segunda entrega anual de los premios del Salón de la Fama "Legends of the Martial Arts" que se llevó a cabo del (11 al 12 de mayo de 2012) en Split Rock Resort and Golf Club en Lake Harmony, Pensilvania.
2017: Promovido al 9º Dan por la Federación General Mundial de Tang Soo Do de Corea Moo Duk Kwan® bajo la dirección del Gran Maestro Koe Woong Choung 10º Dan, Presidente.
2017: Incluido en el Salón de la Fama por el 1er Salón de la Fama Mundial de Tang Soo Do y nombrado Director Regional para América Latina por la Federación General Mundial de Tang Soo Do Korea Moo Duk Kwan®.
2021: Promovido a 10º Dan por la Federación General Mundial de Tang Soo Do.
2023: Diciembre 3, Certificación de 9no Dan Asociación Korean Tae Kwon Do Moo Duk Kwan®, por su Presidente el Granmaestro John H. Lee.
KJN Pedro J. Vangas tiene una Maestría en Justicia Penal y Administración Policial de la Universidad Tecnológica Americana, Kileen, Texas. Está casado con la señora Marta Vangas y es padre de cuatro hijos. Tres que son miembros de Dan: KJN Pablo Vangas, 8.° Dan, Dan Bon #31627, SBN Jose A. Panamerican Moo Duk Kwan® Tang Soo Do Association, Founder.
1962: Kwan Jang Nim Pedro J. Vangas Jr., began martial arts training in South Korea, when he was serving the United States Army Military Police. He was one of the first foreigners to obtain the rank of Cho Dan registration number #3225, with Grandmaster Jung Ho Yung, during that period, the Traditional Korean Martial Art (Ji Do Kwan) still used the same techniques of the Martial Art Style; Okinawa-Te, also known as Karate in Japanese language and Tang Soo Do in Korean language.
1966: He continued studies in Ji Do Kwan at the city of Inchon, South Korea. After having trained for more than two years, KJN Vangas was promoted to 2nd Dan and appointed Ji Do Kwan Instructor.
1968: He then move to the Republic of Panama, where he inaugurates the first academy at Fort Amador in Panama.
1971: Grand Master C. S. Kim visits Panama, (Balboa, Canal Zone) and performs Tang Soo Do Moo Duk Kwan® clinics and demonstrations. KJN Vangas was invited to join the Korean Tang Soo Do Moo Duk Kwan® Association. He took the examination (Yu Dan Ja Shim Sa) and Cho Dan (1st Dan) validation and was registered with the number #15552 of the Korean Tang Soo Do Association. At the same time, he was appointed as an Instructor in the Moo Duk Kwan® style and accepted by the Founder Kwan Jang Nim Hwang Kee (R.I.P).
1971-1972: Assigned to MACV Team 72, Republic of South Vietnam and served as a close combat Instructor for the 5th Special Forces and Vietnam Special Forces. He awarded the Bronze Star and the Vietnamese Gallantry Cross.
1973: He returned to the Republic of Panama and became Head Instructor at the Fort Amador Tang Soo Do Moo Duk Kwan® Academy.
1974: Certified as E-Dan (2nd Dan) by Sa Bom Nim Chun Sik Kim awarded by Grandmaster Hwang Kee at the 53rd Moo Duk Kwan® Tang Soo Do Qualification Championship. He co-founded the Canal Zone Karate Association to incorporate all styles of martial arts active in the Republic of Panama. Appointed as Technical Director and member of the Promotion Board.
1975: Assigned to Fort Hood, Texas, and appointed Lead Instructor for the Self-Defense Training Center. He organized and supervised more than 15 different Tang Soo Do and Traditional Tae Kwon Do schools within the Fort Hood military base and its adjacent communities.
1976: Won the Grand Champion Trophy and Best Show Tournament at the East Meets West Event held in Dallas, Texas in June.
1977: He organized the first Army Martial Arts Tournament, held at Abrams Field House, Fort Hood, Texas. Teams from all the major commands and facilities participated in the tournament. Promoted to the rank of Sam Dan (3rd Dan) by Sa Bom Nim Jung Soo, Regional Director of Tang Soo Do Moo Duk Kwan®.
1980: Appointed as Regional Director for Latin America. Assigned to the American Embassy in Bogota, Colombia. Training of Security Guards of the Embassy of the Marine Corps and Special Command Forces of Colombia. Awarded Union Commendation Medal.
1981: Promoted to Sa Dan (4th Dan) by the Korean Tang Soo Do Moo Duk Kwan® Association.
1985: Returned to the Republic of Panama as Head Instructor at the Howard AFB Tang Soo Do Club under Grandmaster Jae Joon Kim and the American Moo Duk Kwan® Tang Soo Do Association.
1986: Promoted to O Dan (5th Dan) by Grandmaster Jae Joon Kim Dan Bong #38 and assigned Dan Bong #14572. Appointed as a Master Instructor of Moo Duk Kwan®.
1988: Participated in the International Tang Soo Do World Championship, held at the University of Florida, Tampa, Florida. Several of his students achieve the first three positions in the Tournament and Champion of Champions.
1990: Founded Pan-American Moo Duk Kwan® Tang Soo Do Association under the American Moo Duk Kwan® Tang Soo Do Association. The Panamerican was created to supervise the activities of Tang Soo Do in Latin America. Appointed President of the Pan American Tang Soo Do Association by Grandmaster Jae Joon Kim.
1991: He moves to Costa Rica, where he organizes and celebrates the First Latin American International Tournament of Tang Soo Do and Traditional Tae Kwon Do in San José. With the participation of Grandmaster Jae Joon Kim and Sa Bom Nim C.S. Kim representing the American Moo Duk Kwan® Tang Soo Do Association
1992: Promoted to Yuk Dan (6th Dan) by Grandmaster Jae Joon Kim. Appointed member of the Executive Committee.
1995: Selected as Master Instructor of the year, and recognition by Grandmaster Jae Joon Kim.
1996: Participated in the USKA International Tournament held in Panama City, Republic of Panama. Maintaining the second and third position in the Senior Master’s Division in combat and form.
2000: Promoted to Chil Dan (7th Dan) by Grandmaster Jae Joon Kim in recognition of years of service developing, teaching and expanding the Tang Soo Do Moo Duk Kwan® World Association in Latin America. Schools were opened in Panama, Costa Rica, Venezuela, Colombia, Puerto Rico, Aruba and Chile.
2001: Joined the World Soo Bahk Do® Association and was named President of the Puerto Rico Soo Bahk Do® Federation.
2004: Participated in the United States Soo Bahk Do® Federation National Tournament in San Antonio, Texas.
2005: Participated in demonstrations and festivities during the 60th anniversary of Moo Duk Kwan® in Sokcho, South Korea at the personal invitation of Grandmaster H.C. Hwang, President of the World Soo Bahk Do® Moo Duk Kwan® Federation.
2008: Travels to Spa and Brussel, Belgium for the 6th World Federation of Soo Bahk Do® Moo Duk Kwan® Symposium. He then moves to Palma de Mallorca, Spain to provide seminars for the Spanish Association of Soo Bahk Do® Moo Duk Kwan®.
2008-2009: Certified as Pahl Dan (8th Dan) by the World General Moo Duk Kwan® Federation of Korea, under Grandmaster Young Duk Kim, 10th Dan, the oldest of the original students of KJN Founder Hwang Kee, with the Dan Bon's number #2.
2009: He traveled to Panama City, Republic of Panama to give a seminar to the Panama Branch of the Pan-American Moo Duk Kwan® Tang Soo Do Association.
2010: He traveled to Viña del Mar, Chile for Ko Dan Ja Shim Sa and gave clinics and seminars to the members of the Panamerican Moo Duk Kwan® Tang Soo Do in Chile.
2010-2011: Traveled to San José, Costa Rica for Ko Dan Ja and Dan Shim Sa and conducted intensive seminars and clinics for members of the Panamerican Moo Duk Kwan® Tang Soo Do in Costa Rica.
2011: He traveled to San Juan, Puerto Rico to meet with all the representatives of Tang Soo Do to organize all the representatives under one organization.
2012: Selected for induction into the 2nd Annual "Legends of the Martial Arts" Hall of Fame Awards held (May 11-12, 2012) at Split Rock Resort and Golf Club in Lake Harmony, Pennsylvania.
2017: Promoted to 9th Dan by the World General Federation of Tang Soo Do of Korea Moo Duk Kwan® under the direction of Grandmaster Koe Woong Choung 10th Dan, President.
2017: Inducted into the Hall of Fame by the 1st World Tang Soo Do Hall of Fame and named Regional Director for Latin America by the World General Federation of Tang Soo Do Korea Moo Duk Kwan®.
2021: Promoted to 10th Dan by the World General Federation of Tang Soo Do.
